Since 1905 to 2013 and beyond!

In the beginning our founder, H.A. Freitag, made his debut from horse and buggy sales to selling automobiles.  The first cars sold in Marquette County were: Mitchell, Maxwell and Studebaker and sidelined with Indian Motor Cycles.  Around 1915, Henry A. Freitag took on Buick Motor cars.  Around 1927, the Chevrolet line was added.  Pontiac followed in the mid 1930's and GMC Truck in the late 40's.  International Trucks were also in this same time era.  The Dealership acquired Oldsmobile in 1982, but General Motors discontinued the line in 2005.  GEO was also acquired in 1989, but General Motors discontinued the line in 1997.

H.A. Freitag had four sons and four daughters.  One son, Walter A. Freitag, started working with his father at age 12 and took over the dealership in 1932 at the age of 32.  He operated the business until he passed away in November 1960.  Walter was survived by his son Richard Freitag.  Richard was 20 years old, and although he had started working with his father at age 12 in the shop, and sold his first car at the age of 14, he was far from groomed to be the Dealer in the eyes of General Motors.  General Motors gave Richard six months without a signed franchise agreement to prove himself as good "Dealer Material."  In 1961, General Motors signed Richard Freitag on as the youngest Dealer in the history of General Motors.

53 years have passed and today the family tradition is carried on with Richard's wife, Judy, working along with office personnel, one daughter, Nola, as Service Manager and son, Tony, as Parts Manager.  We are proud to have continued the family tradition to serve the Marquette County area for 108 years.

July 1, 2010 we cancelled our affiliation with General Motors.  The lot has been stocked with a wider selection of premium used cars and trucks of all makes and models to better serve our customers needs.  We are proud to be expanding our service department coverage of repairs on all models, foreign and domestic.  Our parts department is stocked to better serve the parts needs of all makes and models.
